655 products from Google Sheets to a live Shopify store — fully automated

The situation

The client was launching a Shopify store with 655 products. Every title, description, price and tag lived in a Google Sheet, and every product image sat in Google Drive. The only plan was to enter each product into Shopify by hand — one at a time, images included. Slow, repetitive and easy to get wrong.

The challenge

• ✗No built-in bridge between Google Sheets and Shopify
• ✗Product data and images lived in two different places and had to be matched correctly
• ✗Hundreds of products, so every step had to run reliably without supervision
• ✗The client needed a way to trace each sheet row to its live Shopify product

What I built

1. 1Created a custom Shopify app to get secure Admin API access
2. 2Built an n8n workflow that reads every product row from the Google Sheet
3. 3Created each product in Shopify with its title, description, price and tags
4. 4Wrote each new Shopify product ID back to its row — a built-in audit trail
5. 5Automatically found each product's images in Google Drive and attached them to the right product
6. 6Published every finished product, taking the store live

The result

✓All 655 products were created, given their images and published — with no manual data entry. The Google Sheet now doubles as a live record that links every row to its Shopify product. Kirk has since hired me for several more automation and AI projects, and we're still working together.
